What is ACE? What Does it Mean for Our Students? | Presented by Whiz Kids
Do you know your ACE score? Come learn your score and discover how Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) can shape the otherwise healthy development of an adolescent brain. Understanding this simple tool helps you to relate and work better with students from all backgrounds and be better equipped to help them thrive.

Engaging Club Times | Presented by NOVO Ministries
Club Time Leaders will not to want to miss this session! Make sure to bring your NOVO box from last year for a free refill. Valerie from NOVO will share valuable resources and engaging materials like Bible stories, memory verses, power phrases, presentation ideas and more to make your Club Time the best ever.

Improving Student Behavior/Success with Student Journals | Presented by Whiz Kids
All students can be successful. By using positive behavior intervention strategies and student journals, Whiz Kids staff will discuss proven, research-based methods to help enhance academic, emotional and social outcomes for our Whiz Kids.

Maximizing Learning | Presented by Lakeshore Learning
Learn how to use those Lakeshore resources at your sites to their full advantage and discover new resources and opportunities to engage your students in fun learning activities.

Racial Reconciliation|Presented by Dr. Lee Roland
Dr. Roland will share experiences and knowledge from his years of serving as an educational leader and in church ministry to help bring clarity and understanding to how we can address multicultural differences with sensitivity, compassion and healing.

Resources for Rock Star Coordinators | Presented by Whiz Kids
As the go-to leader at your site, we want to help ensure you are fully equipped with all the information for a successful year. This session will cover new resources planned for 2018-19 and touch on volunteer and student applications, recruiting for your sites, training volunteers, transportation reminders, food resources and more. Find out what you didn’t know you needed to know for the upcoming year.

Technology Transformation | Presented by Dr. Wes Fryer
(Only two site representatives per each technology session please)
This session will be an introduction to using the Samsung Chromebook at Whiz Kids sites. Aside from site operations, they can be used for free and fun literacy building activities through online apps and resources. Come learn what we have planned for technology this year and pick up a Chromebook for your site.  Chromebook distribution will based on site attendance numbers from 2017-18. 

Tips and Tools for Teacher Liaisons | Presented by Whiz Kids
Teacher liaisons play a vital role at our sites. Join us in conversation about resources and the plans we have to support you even better this upcoming year. This session will touch on new and improved student applications, student data collection, best practices for tutor breakout sessions, working with volunteers and more!


Meet our Keynote Speaker – John Sowers, The Mentoring Project

Dr. John Sowers is the author of : The Heroic Path, Fatherless Generation and The Mentor Field Guide. His work and writing has been featured by Fox News, CNN, NBC, Maria Shriver and others. Dr. Sowers received the President’s Champion of Change award at the White House.
In 2009, Dr. Sowers teamed up with author Donald Miller to launch The Mentoring Project, which recruits, trains, matches mentors with at-risk youth.
Since then, The Mentoring Project has recruited over 4,000 volunteers.
