Whiz Kids Oklahoma Receives $25,000 Opportunities for Children iFund Grant
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Whiz Kids Oklahoma, a division of City Care, Inc. is pleased to announce it has received a $25,000 grant from the Oklahoma City Community Foundation and its Opportunities for Children iFund grant program. The grant will assist in funding after-school tutoring and mentoring for 850+, under-resourced students in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.

Officially starting in 1995 and gaining non-profit status in 1996, Whiz Kids Oklahoma has spent more than 21 years mentoring Oklahoma City’s youth and has positively impacted the lives of thousands of students. Starting with two school sites and assistance from two churches, Whiz Kids has grown and is serving close to 900 students from 30 urban elementary schools and 30 sites in partnership with 72 churches, with plans to expand into to Tulsa this fall. Whiz Kids coordinates more than 1,400 volunteers each week who make the program happen at our sites.

“We are truly grateful for the financial support from the Oklahoma City Communication Foundation iFund for Kids Grant Program,” says Bea Jai Webb, Whiz Kids Oklahoma Director. “With the blessing of additional funds, Whiz Kids Oklahoma is able to provide more literacy-building resources and support for our 30 sites and continue our efforts to expand and add additional sites and serve even more students.”

Founded in 1969, the Oklahoma City Community Foundation works with donors and organizations to create endowments that address needs and opportunities within the community. The Opportunities for Children iFund grant program represents a compilation of contributions from donors who want to support grants to provide access to mainstream opportunities in spite of physical, mental or economic circumstances for children from birth to age 14.  For more information on the iFund grant program, please visit www.ifundokc.org.
